Food
You should have enough non-perishable food to last your family for at least three to six months. This means stocking up on items like canned goods, dry goods, and other staples. Here is a list of suggested items to stockpile.
Non-perishable items
Non-perishable food items are food items that have a long shelf life and do not need to be refrigerated. Non-perishable food items can be stored at room temperature in a cupboard or pantry. The following are examples of non-perishable food items:
-Canned fruits and vegetables
-Dried fruits and vegetables

From soups and stews to casseroles and desserts, there’s a can for every occasion. Not sure what to do with that can of black beans or chunk tuna? Here are some ideas to get you started.
Black beans:
-Rice and black bean bowls
-Black bean brownies
-Black bean soup
-Quinoa black bean salad
Chunk tuna:
-Tuna salad sandwich
-Tuna casserole

Dry goods
“Dry goods” is a term for food that doesn’t require refrigeration and has a long shelf life. These are the non-perishable items that you stock up on so you don’t have to go to the grocery store as often.
Canned goods: Canned fruits, vegetables, beans, soup, tomato sauce, and meat can last for years if stored in a cool, dry place. Use these as staples in your meals or as emergency food if you lose power and can’t cook.
Boxed goods: Dry cereal, oatmeal, rice, pasta, macaroni and cheese, crackers, and cake mixes are all good to have on hand. These can last for months or even years if properly stored.
Bagged goods: Flour, sugar, salt, spices, and baking powder/soda can all be kept in their original bags and stored in a cool, dry place. They will last for many months or even years this way. Just be sure to put them into airtight containers once they are open to keep them fresh.
Water
You should stockpile at least 1 gallon of water per person, per day. stockpiling water is important because you never know when you might need it. A water stockpile can come in handy during a natural disaster or even a power outage.
Store water
You should store at least 1 gallon of water per person, per day. It’s also a good idea to have 2 weeks’ worth of water on hand, in case you can’t get to a store or your tap water is cut off.
To clean and disinfect your water, you can use bleach. Add 16 drops of bleach per gallon of water, and let it sit for 30 minutes before using it.
If you don’t have any bleach, you can also disinfect water with boiling. Boil the water for at least 1 minute, and let it cool before using it.
Filters
There are many different types of water filters on the market today. Which one you need depends on the quality of your water and how you want to filter it.
Carbon filters are the most common type of water filter. They are used in everything from pitchers to whole-house systems. Carbon filters remove chlorine, taste, and odor from water. They do not remove minerals, so they will not affect the flavor of your water.
Reverse osmosis filters are a type of carbon filter. They are very effective at removing impurities from water, but they can be expensive and slow.
ultraviolet (UV) light filters kill bacteria and viruses in water. They are often used in addition to other filters to make sure that all impurities are removed from the water.
Distillers boiling water to remove impurities. This is a very effective way to purify water, but it is also time-consuming.
Medicine
Prescription medications
Prescription medications are those that can only be obtained by a doctor’s prescription. They are regulated by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and are made to meet high standards. Generic drugs are those that have the same chemical makeup as a brand-name drug, but they are usually much less expensive.
Over-the-counter medications
There are many different types of over-the-counter (OTC) medications. They are drugs you can buy without a doctor’s prescription. Some OTC drugs are used to treat conditions that may not require the attention of a doctor. Others are used to relieve symptoms associated with colds, flu, allergies, or other medical conditions.
The active ingredient in an OTC drug is what makes it work. It is the part of the drug that is responsible for its therapeutic effect. Many OTC drugs have more than one active ingredient to treat different symptoms or target different parts of the body. For example, a cold medicine may have ingredients that relieve cough, runny nose, and headache.
When choosing an OTC drug, it is important to select one that will work for your specific condition. To do this, you need to understand the active ingredients in the drug and how they work. You also need to be aware of any possible side effects.
First Aid
In an SHTF situation, having a well-stocked first-aid kit could be the difference between life and death. So what do you need to stockpile in your first-aid kit? Let’s take a look.
Bandages
Bandages are one of the most common items in a first-aid kit. They are used to cover wounds and keep them clean and protected so they can heal properly. There are many different types of bandages, from simple gauze pads to complex wraps, so it’s important to choose the right one for your injury.
Gauze pads: These are the most basic type of bandage and can be used for everything from minor scratches to larger cuts. Gauze pads come in a variety of sizes, so be sure to choose one that is big enough to cover the entire wound.
Bandage strips: Also known as adhesive bandages or Band-Aids, these are strips of gauze that have an adhesive backing. They are often used for small cuts and scrapes.
Cloth bandages: These bandages are made from a variety of materials, such as cotton or linen. They can be used for larger wounds or wounds that require more support than a gauze pad or Band-Aid can provide.
Elastic wraps: These bandages are made from stretchy materials, such as elastic or Velcro, and are used to hold gauze pads in place or provide support for injured muscles and joints.
Tape: Tape can be used to secure other types of bandages, such as cloth bandages and elastic wraps. It is also useful for holding gauze pads in place on large wounds.
Antiseptic
An antiseptic is a substance that inhibits the growth and reproduction of microorganisms. Antiseptics are applied to living tissue or skin to reduce the number of the viable microorganisms present and are used to disinfect inanimate objects. Typically, antiseptics are composed of chemicals that are able to kill a broad range of microorganisms but have limited toxicity for humans and animals.
There are two main types of antiseptics: those that act by destroying microorganisms (bactericidal) and those that act by inhibiting their growth (bacteriostatic). Bactericidal agents work more quickly than bacteriostatic agents, but both types can be effective depending on the application.
Some common antiseptic agents include alcohols, phenols, biguanides, quaternary ammonium compounds, halogenated hydrocarbons, and silver compounds.
Tools
If you want to be prepared for anything, you need to have the right tools on hand. Here is a list of essential items that you should stockpile in your home so that you can be ready for any emergency.
Flashlight
A flashlight is one of the most basic and essential tools that everyone should have in their stockpile. Whether you need it for power outages or for camping trips, a flashlight can come in handy in a variety of situations.
There are many different types of flashlights available on the market, so it’s important to choose one that best suits your needs. If you’re looking for a flashlight that is small and easy to carry, then a pocket flashlight is a good option. For something more powerful, consider an LED flashlight.
When choosing a flashlight, it’s also important to consider the battery life. Some flashlights can run for hours on a single charge, while others may only last for a few minutes. If you need a flashlight that will be used frequently, it’s worth investing in one with long battery life.
Batteries
Batteries are an essential item to stockpile for any number of reasons. Most notably, if the power goes out, batteries will be needed for flashlights and other devices. But batteries are also useful for many other things, such as powering up a portable radio or TV so you can stay informed in an emergency situation.
There are many different types and sizes of batteries, so it’s important to know what you need before you start stockpiling. The most common type of battery is the AA battery, which is used in many small devices such as remote controls and mice. AAA batteries are slightly smaller and are commonly used in items like flashlights.
For larger devices, such as laptops and portable TVs, you will need a larger battery such as a 9-volt or a D battery. If you have any devices that use special batteries, such as hearing aids or cameras, make sure to stockpile those as well.
It’s also a good idea to have a supply of replacement batteries on hand so you can change them out when they start to run low. Batteries have a shelf life of about 5 years, so it’s best to replace them every few years to be safe.
Generator
If the power goes out, a generator can keep your home warm (or cool), cook your food, charge your devices, and provide light. A generator can be incredibly useful in the event of a prolonged power outage, natural disaster, or other emergencies. Here are a few things to consider when shopping for a generator.
-Size: The size of the generator you’ll need depends on how much power you want to generate. A small portable generator can provide enough power to keep a few lights and appliances running, while a larger standby generator can provide enough power for your entire home.
-Fuel type: Generators can be powered by gas, diesel, propane, or natural gas. Each fuel type has its own pros and cons.
-Runtime: When the power goes out, you’ll need your generator to run for as long as possible. generators with longer run times will be more expensive, but they’ll also be more useful in an extended power outage.
-Noise level: Some generators are very loud, while others are nearly silent. If you’ll be using your generator in an urban area or near other homes, the noise level may be an important consideration.
